Before speaking with a contractor in Southwest Florida, it’s important to understand your goals. The clearer your vision, budget, and expectations, the smoother your remodeling project will be—from planning to completion.

Here are key questions to think through:

1. What is the main goal of my kitchen remodel, bathroom renovation, or flooring project?

2. What is my realistic budget for this type of work?

3. What timeline am I hoping for?

4. How will this project impact my daily routine or living situation?

5. What do I want the finished space to look and feel like?

6. What are my must-haves vs. nice-to-haves?

7. Do I understand the scope of work, or do I need help defining it?

8. Am I open to design and layout recommendations?

9. How involved do I want to be during the remodeling process?

10. Do I understand who is responsible for each part of the project?

Cayo Construction was built on a foundation of residential and commercial historical remodeling, where precision, structural expertise, and attention to detail are critical.

Owner Ian began his career working on full home renovations and commercial space remodels in Colorado, restoring and upgrading properties while preserving their integrity.

This type of work requires a deep understanding of the entire construction process, including:

• Planning & Structural Evaluation – Assessing the home or building and mapping out a safe, efficient remodel

• Lifting & Stabilization – Raising structures using hydraulic or screw jacks and securing them with cribbing

• Foundation Work – Removing outdated foundations and rebuilding to modern code and standards

• Lowering & Reconnection – Carefully resetting the structure and restoring utilities

• Deconstruction & Material Recovery – Salvaging valuable materials for reuse

• Rebuild & Modernization – Reconstructing with a blend of reclaimed materials and updated systems

This background translates directly into the work we do today in kitchen remodeling, bathroom renovations, flooring installation, and full interior remodels in Southwest Florida. Our experience with complex structural projects means we approach every job with a higher level of skill, efficiency, and attention to detail than the average contractor.

Hiring the right provider for home renovations can make or break your project. Here’s practical advice to help customers choose wisely and avoid costly mistakes:

• Clear communication upfront prevents misunderstandings and helps providers give accurate estimates. Listen for confidence, clarity, and professionalism.

• Go with the contractor who offers the best value, not just the lowest price. Home renovation projects are partnerships—choose someone you can work with, not just hire.
